Dynamic Modelling of Bulk Solids Storage, Discharge and Handling Systems

This paper demonstrates the application of dimensional analysis aid dynamic simulation in the field of bulk solids handling. Procedures for conditioning bulk solids for scale model tests are described and relevant non-dimensional parameters for performance prediction of full scale prototype equipment are presented. The paper is illustrated by case study examples dealing with mass-flow, gravity reclaim stockpiles, feeding of run-of-mine (R.O.M.) bauxite and grain handling using inclined screw conveyors.
