COMETS FOR THE VISUAL OBSERVER IN 2008

Several short-period comets are expected to become moderately bright during 2008, including three that may reach a peak brightness as high as total visual magnitude mi ~ 7 or brighter. While at this writing (2007 Sept. 11) there are no long-period comets that are expected to become especially bright during the year, two moderately bright ones - as well as several fainter ones - should be observable.
