The plant has now been in operation for 4 years and the recycling concept has proven successful. The plant operates on lowest cost level and with a high degree of availability: Transport of the residual material of the power plant to the dumping location of Peres. Intermediate storage of the residual material in hoppers, silos or piles. Transformation of the ashes and the FGD water to a stabilized material. Installation of the recycled material in the abandoned hole of the open pit mine. Installation of the wet ashes. By using the patented KOCH maturation conveyor process the fly ashes and the FGD water will be sealed and converted to a stabilized material, which can be used for refilling and stabilization of the abandoned hole of the open pit mine without any additional protection of the ground water. The plant represents a complete innovation in the field of power plant recycling, but the use and installation of single plant components is possible and offers a wide range of application for other types of plants. The pipe conveyor is cost-effective with minimum impact on the environment. The maturation conveyor is a reliable and economical alternative solution for many other reaction processes which otherwise take place successively in hoppers and bins or with materials whose reacting in hoppers bear risks. The throughput should also be considered as an important factor.
