The case-based discussion (CbD) is a structured interview between the trainer and trainee and is used as a tool to assess professional judgement. CbDs should be carried out regularly throughout the 3-year CP training programme and the minimum number required per year is six in ST1 and ST2, and 12 in ST3. Half of these should be carried out before the 6-monthly review.
