A revision of the Neotropical coroebine genusSambomorphaObenberger 1924 (Coleoptera Buprestidae Agrilinae)

The Neotropical buprestid genusSambomorphaObenberger 1924 is revised for the first time since OBENBERGER (1940). Ten species are recognized:S. aeneifrons(Kerremans 1896),S. catharinaeObenberger 1924,S. blairiObenberger 1940,S. vicinaObenberger 1940,S. argentiniensisCobos 1959,S. clarkiHespenheide 1990 and four new species: three from Mexico:S. chiapasfrom Chiapas,S. occidentalisfrom Guerrero, Michoacan, Puebla and Sinaloa,S. quintanafrom Quintana Roo, and one,S. Costaricafrom Costa Rica. One new synonym is proposed:S. vicinaObenberger =S. seabraiCobos 1972. A lectotype is designated forS. blairiObenberger. A key is presented to distinguish the 10 species, the new species are illustrated, and a brief discussion of the generic relationships is given.
