With the drive to outsource continuing apace, one of the key issues for OEMs is how to manage their supply chains. The Internet, argues Agile Software, holds the answer. If erp was the hot issue that taxed business brains in manufacturing industry in the late 1990s then managing an outsourced manufacturing supply chain is set to become the great challenge of the new millennium. And only those businesses that truly recognise the potential of the Internet to have an impact on manufacturing strategy as opposed to being just another channel to the marketplace will flourish in the years ahead.
