Australian mining company Kagara Zinc has shipped the first zinc concentrates to Sun Metals, a subsidiary of Korea Zinc, said Joe Treacy, Kagara's technical director, at a London seminar last week. The delivery was made last month from Kagara's Mt Garnet mine to Sun's Townsville refinery under a 70,000 tpy off take agreement. Mt Garnet is expected to achieve full production of 70,000-80,000 tpy of zinc concentrates by June. The project will also generate 15,000-20,000 tpy of lead-silver concentrate and 5,000-8,000 tpy of copper-gold concentrate.
