Introduced at the EMO show in Hanover in 1995, SKF's CARB bearing has now reached the automotive world and is now being incorporated into Volvo designs as well as being used by the TWR Arrows Formula One team. Described by the company as a breakthrough in bearing technology and the most important development since the spherical roller thrust bearing, also developed by SKF way back in 1939, it has been devised to tolerate higher load ratings than have hitherto been possible.
