Sound field control aims to produce high quality spatial sound reproduction for one or more listeners within a given acoustic environment. It has applications in areas such as surround sound reproduction, noise and reverberation cancellation, personal sound zones, telepresence, active room acoustics and virtual reality. This paper considers methods of producing sound fields based on solutions to the wave equation in cylindrical coordinates. Methods for recording and reproducing sound fields will be discussed. As examples the creation of two sound zones, half-space sound fields and focused sources will be outlined.
