IEC issue new rules for instruments for measuring human EMF exposure

The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) is planning to publish a horizontal standard IEC 61786-1 Ed.1.0 on instruments designed to measure the exposure of humans to electromagnetic fields, in January 2014. This will be part of a bi-partite replacement for the existing standard IEC 61786 Ed.1.0 (1998-08); the second new part, IEC 61786-2, will give guidance for making measurements to achieve defined goals and is also expected soon in the new year.
