Japan's Sumitomo Rubber Group held a groundbreaking ceremony for its first tire manufacturing facility in TurkeySumitomo Rubber AKO LastikSanayiveTicaret A.S. (SAT). The ceremony was held in September at the factory's planned construction site in Turkey's Cankiri Province. Sumitomo picked Turkey notjust due to its steady economic growth, which makes it a market with a growing demand for automobile tires, but also because it enjoys the geographical advantage of being strategically located near to markets in Europe, the Middle East, North Africa and Russia.
