Toyota ahead of GM in global auto sales for Q1

As it attempts to make up for production lost to natural disasters in Asia last year, Toyota Motor Corp of Japan sold the most cars and trucks in the world in January to March 2012 period. The Japanese auto giant reported an 18% rise in sales of Toyota, Lexus, Scion, Hino and Daihatsu models to 2.49 million vehicles in the first three months of this year, compared with GM's 2.28 million vehicles and Volkswagen AG's 2.16 million vehicles.
