An outbreak of black quarter among free grazing cattle in Gorubathan - Darjeeling

Black Quarter (BQ) which is commonly known as "Charcharey" to the Gorkha and Nepali community, is one of the most important fatal disease causing almost cent per cent mortality of affected bovines. Clostridium chauvoei is considered as the true cause of B.Q. and other anaerobes isolated from the disease are thought to be the post mortem invaders (Nilkanthan and Dhanda, 1959).
