Chlamydiapsittaci, the etiological agent ol enzootic abortions in ewes is a major cause of abortion losses in sheep and goats (Storz. 1971 and Purohit et al. 1986). It causes abortion in ewes (Krishna et al. 1986) and is characterised by lever, abortion, still birth and weak lambs. Batta et al. (1996) reported chiamydial abortions in migratory sheep and goats of Himachal Pradesh. The incidence ot chiamydial abortions noticed in ivrishria District of Andhra Pradesh during the year 1996 which caused severe economic losses to the sheep rearing farmers is discussed in this paper.
