摘要

Experiments were conducted for measuring water requirement and feed consumption in 20 animals 10 each of lactating Murrah buffaloes and Haryana cows. There was significant difference (P < 0.01) in the water requirement between both the species of animals. The metabolic water production and insensible water loss were significantly higher (P < 0.05) in buffaloes than cows. Significant (P < 0.05) differences were observed in the dry matter consumption between the two species of animals. Average daily milk production was 8.38 ± 0.34 kg and 5.63 4 ± 0.27 kg in buffaloes and cows respectively. Milk production and its composition were significantly higher in buffalloes than in cows.
