The pH of urine is a reflection of metabolic status of animal (Kataria, 2000). However, the actual amount of acid being excreted by the kidney also depends upon the amount of undissociated hydrogen ions present in the urine buffers. Therefore, determination of titratable acidity may provide true picture of the metabolic status of the animal. It may be useful in certain conditions such as ketosis where free ketoacids also contribute to the titratable acidity (Kaneko et al, 1999). However, there is paucity of literature on this aspect in ruminants. The intensity of urine colour, specific gravity and total solids along with urine urea and creatinine can be carried out as a part of renal efficiency tests in veterinary practice. The Rathi cattle has great influence on the economy of Rajasthan state because it provides a major proportion of total milk produce. To understand the real worth of Rathi cattle establishment of their own norms is very essential.
