CYTOMORPHOLOGICAL AND ENZYMO-BIOCHEMICAL INDICES OF CROSSBRED (HFxH) BULL SEMEN

Forty eight ejaculates (12 each from 4 HF x H bulls) were evaluated for cytomorphological, certain seminal biochemical and activities of phosphatases (ACP&AKP) and transaminases (GOT&GPT). The mean per-cent progressive initial motility, per cent livesperm, total abnormal sperm, intact acrosome, sperm concentration values were 53.,13±3.07, 68.56±2.57, 9.35±0.41, 85.12±0.36 and 1111.04±72.54 million/ml, respectively. The activities of GOT&GPT and ACP&AKP in the seminal plasma were 49.54±1.94 mumol/lit, 17.40±1.98 mu moi/lit, and 489.17±26.42 KAU/100 ml and 253.36±28.09 KAU/100ml, respectively. The mean total protein concentration in seminal plasma was 2.76±0.15 g% and total cholesterol 246.59±5.28 mg%. Initial motility, live sperm, spermconcentration, GOT activity, and AKP activity and total protein and cholesterol differed significantly (P<0.01) between bulls. However, between good and poor quality semen only initial motility, sperm concentration, per cent live sperm, GOT activity, ACP activity, total protein and total cholesterol differed significantly (P0.01).
