GROWTH PERFORMANCE OF SWAMP BUFFALO CALVES UNDER DIFFERENT FEEDING REGIMES

The indigenous buffaloes of Assam are of Swamp type. These animals are medium sized with conical face and broad fore head. They are generally reared under three systems of management, viz. semi-domesticated, nomadic and settled (Das, 1988). In settled system, animals are either stall fed or reared under open grazing with or without concentrate supplement. The present investigation is an attempt to compare the growth performance of buffalo calves in different dietary regimes.
