RELATIONSHIP OF BODY MEASUREMENT AND WEIGHT IN CROSSBRED (BEETAL X ASSAM LOCAL) KIDS

Eighteen crossbred (Beetal X Assam local) kids of three to four months of age with an average body weight of 6.58 kg were selected, managed and fed intensively for a period of 90 days. The relationship of body measurements of kids, viz. body length, height at wither, height at rump, chest girth and paunch girth with body weight was found to be very close. As such the body weight of kids can be estimated from any one of the following body measurements like chest girth, paunch girth and body length with greater precision. However, chest girth is the most dependable body measurement for prediction of body weight of kids.
