TRENDS OF DESJ AND IMPROVED HEN POPULATION IN U.P.

The egg production in India has registered twelve fold increase, from 1832 million in 1950-51 to an estimated 23,718 million in 1993-94. The annual egg production in U.P. has steadily risen from 2237 lakh in 1976-77 to 5361 lakh in 1991-92, however, the per capita availability stands around 3 eggs per year. The main thrust in poultry industry, is on improving egg and broiler meat production, by increasing the availability of the quality chicks.
