ContiTech strengthens presence in China's drive belt sector

With the recent acquisition of the business ofthe Chinese company Taizhou Fuju Rubber Belt Manufacture Co., Ltd., ContiTech AG of Germany, is continuing the expansion of its drive belt business in China. ContiTech is a division of the leading international automotive supplier, industrial partner and tiremaker Continental AG. While Taizhou Fuju has till now mainly manufactured drive belts for the automotive replacement business and for industry in general, in the future, ContiTech plans to make use of the Chinese firm's 33,000-square meter production complex, located in Sanmen, in the Zhejiang province south of Shanghai, which was completed at the start of 2014. It has been fitted out mainly with new machines and offers space for further expansion and isjust 50 km away from the ContiTech plant in Ninghai, where belts for the automotive sector and for industry in general are made. The proximity between the two production sites will create synergies, with everything at the new plant being produced in strict accordance with the German company's quality standards. ContiTech will be taking on around 100 employees from Fuju.
