Having performed strongly in North America of late, Hankook Tire Co. Ltd. is planning to establish its first manufacturing plant in the US, the South Korean tire major announced at the SEMA show an automotive specialty products trade event held recently in Las Vegas. It is to be built in two phases at a total cost of about $ 1 billion, with the initial phase costing about $700 million and setting up a manufacturing operation capable of producing 6 million passenger and light truck tires a year.
