Therapeutic studies of water deprivation on goats under hot climatic conditions

An experiment was conducted on 16 local goats to observe the treatment responses of certain drugs on dehydration produced by water deprivation and thermal stress ( 36 +- 0.5 deg C and RH 92%). The animals were divided into two groups, group A and group B with 8 animals in each group. The animals of both the group were subjected to water deprivation and thermal stress. Based on the clinical, haematological and biochemical responses the animals of group A were treated with drinking water ad libitum, dextrose 5% (Drug India) intravenously and pepsid injection (Concept Pharmaceuticals) intramuscularly and the animals of group B with drinking water ad libitum and pepsid injection intramuscularly. Combination of drinking water ad libitum and pepsid injection and dextrose (5%) was found to be more effective than drinking water ad libitum and popsid injection.
