Egg laying-cycle stage dependent sensitivity of infundibulum of hens to alpha-receptoragonists

The sensitivity of infundibulum of hens to alpha-receptor agonists depends upon me stage of laying cycle. The sensitivity of infundibulum to norepinephrine was maximum when the egg was in uterus, it was least when hen was non-laying. When the egg was in magnum, the infundibulum was highly sensitive to methoxamine and least sensitive to clonidine. When egg was in uterus or when there was mature ovum, the infundibulum was highly sensitive to clonidine and least sensitive to methoxamine.
