Special Issue on Active Controlled Clinical Trials - Guest Editor's Note

摘要

Active control clinical trial designed with only test and active control treatments has often been used for the assessment of the efficacy of the test treatment over placebo even though placebo was not included in the current trial. It raises many issues in data analysis and interpretation for the test results. The objective, design and analysis were typically classified into two categories, the generalized hiatorical control approach (or simply called margin approach). In the last ten years, many articles on the topic were published. But most of the articles focused on the trail as designed for simple two sample comparison of the means. In this issue, we collected ten articles including topics more general than comparison of two means.
