Abstract:This study concerns 59 residents of an Old Age Home who participated, for pay, in the sheltered workshop program. Observations were made with regard to their earning capacity, how they spent their money, and what attitudes they had toward it.The aged can, and want to, earn money. For them, it may have many meanings, e. g., comfort, a more satisfying way of life, or restoration of self‐esteem. Work may act therapeutically as a compensation for lack of love, appreciation and dignity.
