Record sales in 2012 for Mercedes - Benz

Luxury German carmaker Mercedes-Benz said that growth in China and the US had boosted sales to a record of 1.3 million units in 2012- a 4.7% rise over 2011. There was an 11.8% rise in US sales to 274,134 cars sold in the US, as compared to sales of 261,084 cars sold in Germany, the automakers main sales market. China sales were up 1.5%, with almost 200,000 cars sold. The German industry federation VDA, said in its annual report that new car registrations were down in the country, with about 3.10 million new cars registered in 2012, down from 3.17 million in 2011.
