Performance of female buffalo calves maintained on umld with restricted dry roughage

The shortage of concentrate and roughage gets further aggravated in the period of drought, floods and other calamities in various parts of the country. It has been reported that urea molasses liquid diet (UMLD) fortified with bypass protein pellets fed to crossbred heifers for a period of 300 days has not caused any mortality (Mehra et RAID., 1994). In the present study, therefore, efforts were made to examine the effect of feeding urea molasses liquid diet with restricted dry roughage to buffalo heifers with progress of time, necessitating replicates. Results of several experiments run in buffalo heifers offering conventional ration, are available in literature.
