STUDIES ON THE EFFECT OF ATROPINE-TRIFLUPROMAZINE- KETAMINE IN DOGS

The administration of 10 mg/kg body vvt. Ketamine intravenously, had a transient effect on PaO_2 and PaCo_2 tension and the values were compensated within 90 minutes. Electrolytes (Na~+, K~+). pH, base excess and standard bicarbonate were found within normal limits. The increase in heart and respiratory rate, and decrease in body temperature were observed. Lack of adequate muscle relaxation and rough emergencies seen with ketamine can be overcome by the use of tranqulizers and narcotics.
