PRODUCTION AND CHARACTERIZATION OF MONOCLONAL ANTIBODIES AGAINST INFECTIOUS BURSAL DISEASE (IBD) VIRUS FOR DIAGNOSTIC PURPOSE

On account of difficulties associated with purification of virus, polyclonal antisera raised against these are likely to contain antibodies directed against unwanted antigen also. Production of monoclonal antibodies preempts occurrence of such problems. Further, monoclonal antibodies can become sustainable source for reagents of defined sensitivity and specificity with increased proportion of desired immunoglobulins. Since the performance of immuno assay systems are dependent to a great extent on the binding characteristics of immuno reactants utilized, an attempt was made to produce monoclonal antibodies which could be used in diagnostics.
