Improved PCR assay for the detection of canine parvovirus from faecal samples

摘要

A method of preparation of DNA from faecal samples, prior to PCR amplification is standardized in this paper. Dot ELISA which was used to compare the results, detected 75 percent of the cases, PCR (assay) using direct faecal samples detected 79 percent of the cases, whereas PCR assay using DNA samples purified from faecal samples detected 92 percent of the cases. Thus, the sensitivity of the PCR is increased by purification of DNA from clinical sample before PCR assay.
