Effect of phosphorus and sulphur fertilization on economics of spring planted sugarcane.

An experiment was conducted during 2003-04 and 2004-05 on sandy loam soil at Pusa to study the economics of application of varying levels of P and S on spring planted sugarcane (Saccharum officinarum L.). Application of phosphorus as well as Sulphur significantly increased the gross return, net return and benefit:cost ratio of sugarcane crop irrespective of the year of experimentation. Application of 80 kg P< sub>2O< sub>5 and 80 kg S/ha gave maximum benefit:cost ratio. However, an increase in level of phosphate and sulphur upto 120 kg/ha resulted in reduction in benefit cost ratio.
