AbstractIt is shown how using the relevant dimensionless groups for the RIM process, guidelines for premature gelling, and knit line problems can be achieved. The influence of processing conditions on final plaque physical properties is analyzed. It is shown that RIM parts, due to the fact that most of the polymerization reaction occurs after the mold is filled, are fairly isotropic with respect to planar rotations parallel to the mold walls.
