SOME OBSERVATIONS ON PROLAPSE IN WHITE LEGHORN PULLETS*

One of the most important non-infectious disease condition in high producing hens is prolapse When the birds come to peak production, prolapse is commonly encountered. The cause of prolapse in birds kept in cages is mostly feed imbalance, over-lighting and faulty debeaking. In a well organised poultry farm having layer flock of White Leghorn birds, incidence of true prolapse was reported with the occurrence upto 40 per cent.
