PYOMETRA AND ENDOMETRIAL HYPERPLASIA IN A BITCH

Pyometra is an acute or chronic suppurative infection of the uterus with accumulation of pus in the uterus (Jubb et al., 1993) and is particularly a disease of the older bitch in the metoestral phase of the cycle (Blendinger and Bostedt, 1991). The present communication places on record a case of pyometra and endometrial hyperplasia in a bitch. Case history; A 10 year old female Spitz was presented to the Department of Surgery and Radiology with a histoiy of lethargy, reluctance to walk, inappetanceand foul smelling chronic white discharge. The bitch was not responding to systemic and intrauterine medicinal therapy. Therefore, it was decided to perform ovariohysterectomy to treat the case.
