Human beings serve as reservoirs of the anthropophilic dermatophytes. It is a fungal 'Reverse Zoonosis' (Chhabra and Arora, 2003). There are various reports on the isolation of T. rubrum from dogs and in many of them contact with an infected human wasknown or suspected (Bourdzi-Hatzopoulou, et al, 1996; Mpourdzi-Hatzopoulou and Bourdzi-Hatzopoulou, 1997; Pinheiro, et al.', 1997; Kumar, et al, 2001). This report also deals with T.rubrum infection in a pet dog with the suspicion that the infection might have been caused by contact with the affected owner.
