FACTORS AFFECTING POST-WEANING BODY WEIGHTS IN CROSSBRED PIGS

Days taken by a pig to achieve slaughter weight has definite economic importance. Successive increase in body weight of individual piglets at different weeks gives an idea of growth rate. It reflects the interaction of genotype with environmental factors under which it is expressed Crossbreeding and selection have been applied to bring improvement in economic characters of marketable pigs. Present study was planned to investigate the effect of selection and other environmental factors affecting post-weaning body weight in crossbred (Landrace x Desi) pigs.
