Some new Schiff base derivatives of aluminium having the general formula (OPri)3-nAlO(NH2)C:NN:C(CH3)Rn(where n=1,2 and 3; R=C4H3O, C4H3S, C5H4N and C10H7) have been synthesised by the reactions of semicarbazones of the methyl ketones of heterocyclic aromatic compounds with aluminium isopropoxide in stoichiometric ratios in refluxing benzene. The replacement reactions of isopropoxy aluminium (III) derivatives with tert.butanol have also been studied. All these derivatives have been characterised by conductance measurements, elemental analysis and molecular weight determination. Their probable structures have been proposed on the basis of infrared and1H NMR spectral studies.
