PREVALENCE AND ANTIBIOGRAM OF ESCHERICHIA COLISEROTYPES IN HEALTHY AND DIARRHOEIC CATTLE IN JABALPUR (MADHYA PRADESH) : A PUBLIC HEALTH PERSPECTIVE

摘要

Ninteen differert serotypes of Escherichia coli were isolated from faecal samples of healthy and diarrhoeic cows and caives, Two isolates belonged to each of VTEC O157 serotype and ETEC O115 serotype, and one to EPEC O86 serotype. Multiple drug resistance was a common feature belonging to isolates from all categories of animals. Highest resistance was against ampiciliin and oxytetracycline, the two commonly used antibiotics in the field practice. The presence of zoonotic and drug resistant E. coli serotypes is of public health concern in the region.
