Dried rumen liquor as a therapeutic adjunct in ruminal acidosis

The therapeutic studies were made on dried rumen liquor substrate (DRL), which contained dried rumen liquor, trace minerals, dextrose and tartar emetic in experimentally induced acidotic calves. The DRL along with sodium bicarbonate was used as therapeutic adjunct in these cases. The acidosis was produced by feeding crushed wheat @ 50g/kg. body weight for 3 days. The study revealed a faster recovery in sick animals, as evidenced by an early restoration of ruminal movements, infusorial motility and reduced cellulose digestion time.
