Occurrence of neoplasms in canine and equines: a study of 126 clinical cases

One hundred and twenty six neoplasms were reported in canines and equines during 8 years period of study (1991-1999). The incidence of neoplasms was 88.09 percent in canines and 11.90 percent in equines. Significantly (P<0.05) higher incidence in males (68.25 percent) than females (31.75 percent) was recorded. Incidence of venereal granuloma was higher (33.88 percent), followed by squamous cell carcinoma (11.90 percent), canine cutaneous histiocytoma (6.34 percent), adenoma and adenocarcinoma (each5.55 percent), fibroma, papilloma and fibrosarcoma (each 4.76 percent) and mixed mammary turnout (3.96 percent). Most common site for neoplasms were genital organs (50.79 percent), head/jaw (11.11 percent), mammary gland (10.31 percent), trunk (7.39 percent), ear (4.76 percent) and eye (3.96 percent).
