INCIDENCE OF TOXOCARIASIS IN DOGS IN AND AROUND HYDERABAD

Among large number of helminthic parasites harboured by dogs, Toxocara species is particularly important since it is one of the most common and pathogenic nematodes of dogs especially puppies and also due to its zoonotic importance. Severely infectedones show the clinical signs such as unthriftyness, pot bellied condition or tucked up abdomen, harsh coat, diarrhoea or constipation, anemia and emaciation. Death due to acute intestinal obstruction may occur (Soulsby, 1982).
