The experiment was conducted to evaluate the effect of residual sodium carbonates (RSC) of irrigation water and sodic soil and their amelioration with gypsum and pressmud on the cane yield and juice quality of six promising sugarcane varieties. Treatments consisted of irrigationswaterwith RSC 5 me/L, irrigationswaterwith RSC 5 me L half or fully amended with either gypsum or pressmud and six varieties of sugarcane. Cane yield and yield attributing characters like number of millable canes, cane length, cane diameter and number of intern-odes per cane of plant and ratoon crops were recorded Juicequality parameter commercial cane sugar (CCS%) in juice and sugaryield were determined, at the harvest of crop. The overall plant and ratoon crop cane yield of various varieties obtained under amended RSC with gypsum treatments, were almost equal to the yield obtained under amending RSC with pressmud treatments. The overallplant and ratoon crop cane yield of various varieties obtained underfull amending RSC with gypsum (40.95 t/ha, plant and 42.44 t/ha, ratoon) or pressmud (42.68 t/ha plant and 46.31 t/ha ratoon) were significantly higher than half amending RSC with gypsum (30.7 t/ha plant and 38 82 t/ha ratoon) or pressmud (30.62 t/ha plant and 36.52 t/ha ratoon). The effect of RSC of irrigation and amending RSC with gypsum and pressmud was variable for different varieties. The early varieties CoJ 64, CoH 92 and mid variety CoS 8436 recorded the poor cane and sugar yield of plantand ratoon crops in sodic water irrigation and even afterfull amelioration of RSC. The late varieties CoH 110, CoH 119 and COS 767 recorded average yield in sodic water irrigation and amelioration with gypsum and press mud brought significant increase in cane and sugar yield.
