BACTERIAL FLORA AND ANTIBIOGRAM STUDIES ON THE GENITAL INFECTION IN COWS SUFFERING FROM ENDOMEIRITIS

There are several factors responsible for reproductive failure in farm animals. Endometritis is one of the major gynaecological problems and among infectious causes of infertility in cattle, it ranks first both in heifers and cows. The indiscriminateuse of antibiotics to treat the uterine infections has invariably resulted into emergence of resistance among bacteria. Recovery rate from endometritis is rapid when specific antibiotic is used for specific type of organisms in-vitro. Therefore,the present study was undertaken to know the type of organisms occurring in the genital tract of cows with endometritis and their antimicrobial spectrum.
