ACARICIDAL EFFICACY OF TOPICAL FORMULATIONS OF IVERMECTIN AND ABAMECTIN IN DOGS

Tick and lice infestation is the common obstinate, persistent and problematic skin affection of canines, causing extreme debility, scratching, anaemia and pruritus besides transmitting blood protozoon and cestodes. Various topically applicable formulations and injectable macrocylic lactone compounds have been tried against these parasites with variable response. In the present study, the efficacy of topical formulations of two macrocyclic lactones (ivermectin and abamectin) by pour on method has been evaluated in tick/lice infestation.
