摘要

Sugarcane is one of the major commercial crops of A.P., providing raw material for sugar, Khandsari, jaggery and ancillary industries in the state. It occupies an area of about 2 lakh hectare with productivity of 85 t/ha, keeping pace with the growingpopulation and increasing demand for sugar. This indicates about the increase in area and the production of the sugarcane to meet the increasing population pressure of the country. To increase the average cane yield, adoption of suitable management practices plays an important role- from selection of variety to harvesting of the cane. Research work carried out at Agricultural Research Station, Perumallapalle on various aspects of cane production, which resulted in viable, practically feasible production technologies to improve the cane yield.
