Located approximately 18 miles off the east coast of Yorkshire, Centrica's Rough facility is a former depLeted gas field and is now the UK's largest natural gas storage facility. It stores approximately 118 billion cubic feet (bcf) of natural gas at pressures of over 200bar and can deliver more than 1.5bcf of gas per day. In general, storage in depleted reservoirs is used for multi-cycle (gas injected and delivered several times per year), seasonal (injected in summer and withdrawn in the winter) and strategic (stored specifically for emergencies) purposes.
