Central Symmetric with Partial Sub-blocks (CSPS) training sequence is proposed to optimize the synchronization performance in OFDM systems. The proposed CSPS is composed of two Identical-Length training symbols. We first generate its first training symbol and logically divide it into M continuous Identical-Length sub-blocks. After that, all these sub-blocks are copied and arranged in reverse order to generate the second training symbol. Based on the CSPS, a two-phase synchronization, i.e. Initial Acquisition and Adaptive Tracking, can be performed. In the Initial Acquisition phase, accurate frame synchronization and carrier frequency offset acquisition are performed simultaneously. Then an Adaptive Tracking algorithm can be performed based on the proposed CSPS to further estimate the remaining carrier frequency offset. The parameter M can be adaptively optimized according to multipath wireless channel condition. Considerable performance improvement over Moose's algorithm can be achieved in the proposed CSPS-based algorithm, with respect to both accuracy and computational complexity (CA).
