A number of years ago I wrote a paper on the subject of current density anodizing. At the time I felt everything that should be said was said; however, today's anodizer is not only challenged by the quest for quality, increased production, andreproducibility, but is besieged by "new and unusual" anodizing methods, unique equipment, and various systems advertised to "make his anodizing easier, while automatically giving him the finish he wishes with just the flick of a switch." Maybe it is time once again to discuss anodizing and review some of the basic principles of applying the anodic oxide.
