Pontine hyperperfusion during recovery from central pontine myelinolysis

A 49-year-old man experienced subacutely-progressivegait disturbance and dysarthria. He had suffered from alcoholicliver cirrhosis for 13 years. He was diagnosed withdiabetes based on hyperglycemia (500 mg/dL) and a highHbA1c value (13.4%). Brain MRI showed hyperintensity inthe central portion of the pons on T2-weighted images (Pic- ture 1).
